Commander Boxing League 6 – Week 4

Hi everyone and welcome to the fourth week of the sixth Commander Boxing League of our group!

After the end of the previous week (click here to read how it went), each of us has chosen another set to get six additional booster packs from and added the cards we found inside them to our pool of cards.

I decided to try M21 as my pack to find some of the rogues and the utility cards that were possible to pull in there… however what I found was instead Radha. I had a really nice pool of cards in red and green, but no Commander with these colors, and so I decided to completely change my deck.

The new deck is a good stuff deck with a slight focus on lands.
You can click here to see the updated decklist.

Gianluca decided to keep playing his Mirri the Cursed deck and also Giovanni kept playing his Slimefoot, the Stowaway.

We started playing, each of us trying to get two games to win this week and take two points home.

GAME 1
Slow starts for everyone, even if I’m able to play some pieces because Slimefoot immediately removes them.
Mirri hits the field while Slimefoot is left behind as he isn’t able to find green mana. I play Zariel and it immediately get targeted by Mirri, but I’m able to eliminate her with a Fight spell.
I’m able to do Zariel’s emblem and I’m able to start dealing damage with my extra attacks. I’ve Radha on the field and when Mirri taps out I’m able to swing at her for 21 Commander Damages in a single turn.
I’m left alone against Slimefoot that in the meantime was able to find the green mana. He is able to stall me out with the saprolings until I cast Fiery Emancipation; with the extremely high damage output I’m able to close the game.

GAME 2
Mirri starts with Sol Ring into Myr Moonvessel at turn 1. My start is much slower and I know I will be a target in this game.
I’m able to cast a Skyclave Geopede and with some extra lands I’m able to pump it various turns to deal some nice damage.
Both my opponents focus on me bringing me really low on life but luckily they later start to focus on each other, leaving me a bit of time to recover… However, Slimefoot’s damages for his drying saprolings still continue to hit me.
I cannot see myself winning this game and so I decide to try to help Mirri win this game by launching an all-out attack on Slimefoot. He is able to survive and knocks me out the next turn.
Mirri however has only his Commander on the field and so Slimefoot is quickly able to attack him and also knock him out from the game.

GAME 3
I ramp really hard on the first turns, hoping to be able to cast Old Gnawbone really soon in the game.. however I have a really hard time finding the last one that, together with Dungeon Map, will let me cast it. Mirri tries to set up but Slimefoot stops him by removing the cat Commander.
I’m able to find the last land I need and I cast Gnawbone. I also have Garruk’s Uprising on the field and so chump blockers really cannot work with me anymore.
I do a big attack on Mirri only to accumulate Treasures with Gnawbone. My opponent stay on the defensive as they aren’t able to find removals. I attack Slimefoot and I go all in with Radha, pumping her three times with her ability, I knock him out and I get tons of Treasure back!
Radha also doesn’t find removals and when it is my turn I knock her out in the same way.

Radha and Gnawbone surely have a really good synergy! But you have to give Radha trample to make it work!

By winning the week, I got 2 points in the ranking while Giovanni got 1 for winning a game.

This is the ranking after the fourth week:
Raven: 5 points.
Giovanni: 3 points.
Gianluca: 2 points.
