“Hammering the Spirits”‘s update after Streets of New Capenna

Streets of New Capenna finally hit the shelfs of your LGS and so it is also time to show you the changes I made to my decks with these new cards!

Let’s start with Hofri, that not only had some changes due to new cards coming out, but also I modified it a bit to better adapt it to my local meta and to finalize even more my initial plan of the deck.

You can find the previous post about this deck by clicking here.

While by clicking here you can find the updated decklist.

+ Aerial Extortionist, – Inferno Titan
Aerial Extortionist is a new cool way to remove our opponents’ permanents. Sure, this isn’t a permanent solution as they can recast them from exile but, if they do, the Extortionist will let us draw. Card Advantage and pseudo-removal on the same card? Yes please!
To make space for the Extortionist I decided to remove Inferno Titan from the deck; it surely is powerful but it wasn’t doing too well its job as a removal.

+ Rumor Gatherer, – Venerable Warsinger
The scry ability of Rumor Gatherer, paired with the constant ability of the deck of making creatures enters the battlefield will totally help us manipulate our topdeck and also draw some more cards. I decided to replace Venerable Warsinger for it as its repeatable reanimation wasn’t often getting useful enough.

+ Witty Roastmaster, – Geist-Honored Monk
Witty Roasmaster is basically an Impact Tremors on a stick, making it really easy to recur thanks to Hofri and the rest of the deck. It is a powerful addition as it represents another way to close games for the deck. Geist-Honored Monk is a card that underperformed a lot lately and so I decided to remove it.

The rest
The rest of the changes are made for two reasons: the lands were changed to make the deck a bit slower as it tended to be too overwhelming for many casual decks of my meta; while the spells parts it’s too move slowly move the deck versus being 100% creature based, removing the majority of the non-creature spells.
